Warm Hearts, Warm Homes: A Recap of Our Family Cold Weather Clothing Event
On February 28th, the Georgia air still held a sharp winter chill, but the StreetWise campus was filled with a different kind of warmth. It wasn’t just the heaters or the coffee; it was the overwhelming spirit of a community coming together to protect its most vulnerable neighbors. At StreetWise, we believe that no one should have to choose between a warm meal and a warm coat, and this event was a beautiful testament to that belief.
Meeting the Need
Thanks to the incredible outpouring of donations from our local partners, churches, and individual donors, we were able to transform our space into a hub of hope. We were able to serve 193 individuals in our community, 98 of which were children.
Together, we distributed 1,654 articles of clothing, including:
- 193 Coats
- 547 Pairs of socks
- 571 Clothing items for children
In addition, we were able to distribute other items to our community, including:
- 93 Blankets
- 400+ Kid’s books
More Than Just Fabric
While these items are essential for physical safety during a Georgia winter, their impact goes much deeper. In a season where the cold can feel heavy, especially for families navigating financial hardship, every item distributed was a message of dignity, care, and compassion. For a parent, receiving a coat for their child means one less “impossible” choice to make at the end of the month. It provides peace of mind, comfort, and the knowledge that they are not walking this path alone. By meeting these physical needs, we are able to open the door to spiritual and emotional encouragement, reminding every person that they are seen and valued.
Powered by Our Volunteers
This event was a massive undertaking, and it simply would not have been possible without our dedicated volunteers. From the teams who spent hours sorting and sizing donations to the friendly faces who helped families find the perfect fit, you are the hands and feet of StreetWise.
To every donor who dropped off a bag of winter gear and every volunteer who gave their time to serve: Thank you. You are the reason we can continue our mission of “Loving People. Meeting Needs.” regardless of the temperature outside.
