Here I Am! Send Me…

You don’t always have to take a trip around the world in order to change it. As Christians, the mission field is all around us. Wherever God has planted you in this season, there is a way to bring Him glory and a way to touch lives. Right here, right now, we can partner with heaven to answer His calling, reach souls for the gospel and provide for the poor of the earth. All we have to do is keep our eyes open for opportunities and prepare our hearts to be ready when those opportunities come.

So what does it look like to be “sent” when He has not sent you far? There are many ways that you can help the word of the Lord to “speed ahead and be honored” (2 Thes. 3:1) —

(1) You can send up prayers for those who are laboring to make the Lord known and to reap a great harvest in His name.

(2) You can send your time and talents to local missions. In word and in deed, you can present an example of Christ to those who are in urgent need of Him.

(3) You can send finances to support healthy, sustainable ministries that are lifting the burden in your community. When we offer our resources as a pleasing sacrifice to Christ and live lives of gratitude unto Him, it does not go unnoticed. When you are giving, you have an important share in the going.

In John 5:35, Jesus called John the Baptist “a burning and shining lamp.” We firmly believe that to be the light of the world, we must begin by brightening our own backyards. When His Spirit burns within us, we cannot help but express it.
